Standing on the shoulders of
West Bengal State Chhatra Parishad, affiliated to the National Students Union of India (NSUI), is the students' wing of the Indian National Congress in West Bengal. It was founded on 28 August 1954 in Kolkata under the guidance of Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy and Atulya Ghosh.
On 9 April 1971, under the leadership of Mrs. Indira Gandhi, West Bengal State Chhatra Parishad merged with the Kerala Students Union to establish the National Students Union of India, the students' wing of the Indian National Congress.
Chhatra Parishad remains the state's principal student organization, advancing student activism grounded in progressive thought, secular vision, and democratic action.
Established in Kolkata under the guidance of Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy and Atulya Ghosh.
